Packing List

After hearing that a couple of adoptive families recently got a 4 DAY travel notice, I decided that I should take a look at our packing list more seriously and start gathering the stuff we need. Here's a few of the highlights from the list:
  • A roll of toilet paper...some airlines and most public places in Ukraine do not provide toilet paper or are not quick to replenish the toilet paper when it's gone.
  • A flashlight...it's not uncommon to have the power go out at the airport in Kyiv. The power tends to go out all over Ukraine often so we'll be prepared.
  • Only three days of casual clothes and one professional outfit. For 4-6 weeks.
The weather may be in the negatives, and we may be toilet paper-less and sitting in the dark, but I CAN'T WAIT! Let the adventure begin. We're ready for you, baby!

  1. We too are starting to pack. I was very freighted by the packing list myself. My friend from Ukraine told us to get some 220 grade sandpaper from Home Depot and start using it now to for toilet paper so we are used to it by the time we reach Ukraine. Blahahaaaa. I was howling... And she said "I'm serous!"
Flashlights... Check, peptoebismile.... Check, 3 outfits... UGH... Check..., and on goes our list. Happy packing to you.... Maybe we should compare lists??

  2. SANDPAPER?!!! OH MY WORD! It's so hilarious now...but probably won't be very funny soon!
I'd love to compare packing lists. As of now I haven't made a "master" list adding other things I think we'll need, but when I do I'll let you know. What items have you added to Laurel's list?

  4. My last adoption I was notified on a Sunday to be there for my appointment on Thursday. We had to pack, find sitters, house watcher, inform work, buy airline tickets, gifts, get money and be on a plane Wednesday morning. It was crazy!
