SDA Appointment

Today's appointment was very disappointing. We didn't accept a referral and we have to wait until Tuesday to return for a second appointment. Please pray for our next appointment to go better--for files that match our criteria to be shown and for encouragement in the mean time. We have faith that the Lord will complete the work He has begun in His own timing and in His own special way. Thank you.

  1. I've been there before, and I'm sorry you left without a referral. Here's the post I wrote the day of our first (also unsuccessful) SDA appointment. Hopefully it will encourage you. And if you want ideas of things to do until Tuesday, look through my blog posts the last week of September and first week of October 2009.

  2. God has been teaching me to trust in His perfect timing. He loves us and has a perfect plan for us. I am praying for encouragement for you and Mark. Holding out for God's best is always worth it! His timing is always different than what we plan, some parts go faster, some slower, and it's always a lesson in trust. It's so hard to learn, but I want to encourage you! He put this desire in your heart, and He will give you peace when you get the right referral. You will know when the time is right and you will know it was so worth everything you have gone through and will go through!

  3. I pressed send accidentally on my comment u was trying to leave. Now let's hope this one works! My prayers are with you and since I found your blog, you've been on my mind. I know God has this all planned out for you and is working on it even when your sleeping. Plans to show you your child at His perfect timing. Have faith that you will see your child soon and completing your journey. Just telling yourself it will happen, you will save one child. Your amazing!

  4. We had to turn down a referral while in country too. Very difficult decision. I'm sorry you are going through this, but keep the faith! Hang in there!!!

  5. We have spent a lot of time in ukraine adopting. We adopted three brothers. Their files at the sda were scary. My husband & I decided that the drs put down everything that the kid might have just so they don't get in trouble if another dr decides they missed something. Our boys are healthy & smart. Our youngest boys file said he was deaf. He has great hearing. Don't let the files scare you, if one catches your eye go meet them. Good luck. Cara

  6. We had a similar issue, but everything worked out in the end. I recommend fasting from food and drink 24 hours before your appointment. Pray for inspiration and for your eyes to be opened to which child or children are meant for your family. Hang in there. And look for some sharma to eat while in the country. :)

  8. Praying that your second referral goes better. Having been there and getting shown files of children, many of whom had serious medical conditions, I know what it's like. Just know that God has a purpose and a plan. Our dossier got a soft rejection the first time and we were devestated. God, however, had a reason because if we had gone earlier, we wouldn't have gotten to see the boy we ended up adopting because he had just become available. We are praying that your child will be available for you guys when you go to the SDA the second time. With ours, we were the first family he'd met.
